HOPE AND A FUTURE “A CELEBRATION OF HAITI”
Community 2 Community (C2C)
The Urban Buzz Magazine “Where Key Players Speak!” caught up with Community 2 Community’s Marie Eusebe to discuss C2C’s continuing efforts to provide clean water for Haiti’s residents. Often times after an horrific event many forget about the damage left behind. So, while a formal budget is put in place by political officials, based on assess damage, more times than others the effects are long lasting and unresolved. When the funds run out many continue to suffer and yes die. It takes someone like Marie Eusebe to assess and know that something else has to be done.
Marie Eusebe has taken the initiative to make a difference with her team that cares. From Brooklyn to Haiti, Community 2 Community continues to provide Haiti’s residents with proper water conditions. This year is no different. You can show your support by attending Friday May 10th 2013 at Christian Cultural Center 12020 Flatlands Ave Brooklyn, NY 11207. Click the link and hear how C2C is making a difference.
For further information, or to RSVP, please email us at events@community2community.info or call 718.393.7740. We look forward to sharing another memorable evening with you, so come inspired and you will leave an inspiration!

Tyler Perry’s Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor
Writer, director, producer, actor and playwright Tyler Perry Celebrates his 14th Film Temptation: Confessions Of a Marriage Counselor based on his 2008 play. Normally I do not review films in such detail and since Tyler Perry did not send me a birthday gift for my birthday April 15th yet. I will still do as the Holy Spirit prompt me to do and comment on his film. Firstly, by now with all the reviews and promotions you know the summary. A cheating wife played very well by Judith (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) her transformation was excellent I must say. I enjoyed her criticising co-worker played by (Kim Kardashian) good job. Whenever, I see Vanessa Williams I know it is going to be good. She deserves an Oscar for her acting, I’m just saying. It is too early for me to go there because we know only African American films made by non African Americans get nominated for Oscars. Anyway, Vanessa Williams played (Janice) the boss lady and did a great job as usual. (Ella Joyce) who plays Judith’s reverend mom is absolutely great. Another actress with style and grace. I know you know where I am going, so come on with me. Judith’s husband is played by Harley (Robbie Jones) and I thought that was a great role for him. The seducer is played by Lance Gross (Brice), one lady behind me in the movie theater kept calling him the devil. Which means he did a good job in his role. Renee Taylor (Store Owner) my homegirl from the Bronx, you know I have to represent, had the best role of all. Melinda, (Brandy Norwood) all I can say is well done Brandy.

Buttahman Director of Music at BET Networks Is Extending His Reach
Buttahman is the Director of Music at BET Networks; where he programs music for the countdown show on 106 & Park and various BET projects. What I enjoy about Buttahman’s story, is his willingness not to get stuck at a job but pursue his vision. Literally starting at the bottom, Buttahman worked his way to the top and became a full-time On-Air talent, an executive at MTV and now currently at BET. He received his name “Buttahman” due to his over usage of the word “Buttah.” Highly influenced by his Urban community and creativity; Buttahman continues to express his urban influences through music and independent film projects. He is currently working on a new Webisodes series and was kind enough to let Urbanbuzzmag.com know about it.

My Black History Month Rant

My Black History Month Rant! What Happened This Year?
Capital construction is fluctuating, bad stock market, poor economy, downfall of the housing market, housing cuts, education cuts and advertisers opting not to renew contracts with broadcasters unless they have high ratings. Music industry struggling to make money. Major corporations using everything they have to keep up ratings to keep advertising dollars. Where do African Americans stand in these times of unemployment, African American celebrities losing their status due to jail, poor conduct and fan abandonment? Black History Month 2013 had to be the worst one yet. Unlike years past there were fewer television programs, less advertisements, hardly any mention on mainstream radio shame.
Has social networking level the playing field for African Americans? I mean we can’t still be crying racism, in a time where creative doors are open to produce quality programs and quality music or are we still waiting for mainstream handout reality shows. If you are don’t hold your breath. I have attended two very interesting meetings held by Corporate America and African Americans under the umbrella of Corporate America. Today mass media are joining forces and fighting for space to corner markets of interest. For example, Viacom proud parent of BET, Centric, CMT, Comedy Central, Logo, MTV, Nickelodeon, Paramount Pictures, Spike, TV Land, VH1 and Viacom International Media. One of the largest global media empires, Viacom has a financial interest in broadcast and cable television, radio, Internet, book publishing, and film production. National Broadcasting Company (NBC) known for primetime, daytime and late night television shows. Television (TV) network includes soap opera, reality shows and national news. Noticed the parent company of BET and Centric. So you can’t get mad when you don’t see the program you desire although, they have gotten better over the years. TV One is a joint venture owned by Radio One Kudos, the largest radio company that primarily targets African American and urban listeners and Comcast Corporation. Notice Comcast Corporation.

CLEOTHA STAPLES OF THE LEGENDARY STAPLE SINGERS DIES AT 78
There is nothing like being a party and hearing that dent, dent bars of “I’ll Take You There” to get you on the dance floor. The Staples Singer, Cleotha Staples has died at the age of 78. She had gracefully battled Alzheimer’s disease for the last decade and passed away peacefully at her Chicago home on the morning of February 21, 2013. Cleotha Staples bright high notes could be heard on “If I Could Hear My Mother Pray Again.” The Staple Singers became one of the biggest gospel outfits of the era and turned out best-selling gospel classics such as “On My Way To Heaven,” “Will The Circle Be Unbroken,” “Don’t Knock,” “Pray On” and their signature hit, “Uncloudy Day,” generally accepted to be the first gospel record to sell one million copies. The iconic million-seller “I’ll Take You There” spent a week at Number One on the Billboard pop singles chart and four weeks at that spot on the R&B singles chart. The group also earned two other million-sellers at Stax with “Respect Yourself” (1971) and “If You’re Ready (Come Go With Me)” (1973). (photo Ruggero)
