Gordon Chambers On Sincere

As we enter into Black History month, it is only fair that I recognize a real Key Player in the music industry, our Bronx native Mr. Gordon Chambers. When you get a chance purchase, Sincere. Chambers album Sincere features Chambers reuniting with one of his former duet partners, vocalist Sara Devine, on the Thomas Whitfield gospel standard “Walk With Me, Lord.” Recorded live at a gig and unrehearsed, the spontaneous rendition evokes all the intensity of a Sunday morning praise & worship performance. With all the ingredients at hand, it’s hard to imagine that Chambers’ recipe could lose. “There are many sounds on this album, but I think there’s truly something for everybody on this album,” he says. “A lot of the great artists of our time have taken chances. I took chances sonically this time, because change is inevitable. This is an album that is reflective of where I am in this moment in time. Sincere has something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue. This is the chapter I’m writing at this point in my career. And the way it’s sequenced, it takes the listener from the current to the classic. It’s a nice journey. You cook with what’s in the kitchen at the time.”

The New York Association of Black Journalists
First NYABJ Meeting of 2013 at CBS

On a mild and damp night on January 14, 2013, The New York Association of Black Journalist (NYABJ) had their first general meeting of the year at CBS studios. Before the meeting officially began you could see individuals networking and reacquainting themselves with each other around the room. This organization of African American media professionals has been around since 1976 and continues to provide support and encouragement to its members in addition to those aspiring to enter into the field of reporting. Crystal Johns, CBS’ Director of Talent Development and Diversity for CBS, hosted the assembly and provided us all with a warm smile and some tasty healthy treats while we waited patiently for the meeting to begin. The atmosphere was inviting as the meeting was called to order.

NEW ETHICS ON THE RISE

Pastor A. R. Bernard May Run For Mayor of New York

Luke 1:52 (KJV) He hath put down the mighty from their seats and exalted them of low degree.  It is so evident at this time and due season, that the Lord God Almighty is raising His people up to higher heights and greater works. I cannot stop rejoicing over the news that A. R. Bernard Pastor of Christian Cultural Center may run for Mayor of New York.  I am not a member of Christian Cultural Center but have visited on various occasions. So, don’t worry this is not an endorsement. As part of the body of Christ I am rejoicing. We need more Christians in decision making position in the systems which run this country. Which is the only way our country can and will be restored. We serve a God of reconcile, Jesus is the restorer of the breach. Pontius Pilate the governor had to make a decision when the people cried and they crucified Christ. Pilate as we read in scripture made his decision with all honesty, following the moral code of that day. Just as our President Barack Obama has and must continue to do during his presidency. Sometime people can be more critical than understanding the crucial matter at God’s time for a greater outcome, such as Christ Crucified.
