“Worship That Changes Lives” was the theme of the 2011 Gospel Praise & Worship Conference held in Jacksonville, Florida. It’s amazing how approximately 3968 people, represented by over 100 churches (local and as far away as Freeport Bahamas, Sweden & Wiesbaden, Germany) were able to come together and learn the importance of “true worship”. There were more than 1400 pre-registered guests who showed up for the 3-day session and an undisclosed number of those who paid when they arrived. Now, when the Holy Spirit adds His anointing upon the mix, you get more than what you paid for.
Keynote speakers taught in the mornings and evenings, then after lunch, there were different “break-out-sessions” for attendees to choose from. Classes were informative, thought provoking and challenging to those who had an ear to hear. Music was plentiful during the morning and evening services/sessions. There was always something to do; and not to forget, plenty of shopping from numerous vendors.
The combined choir was compiled of men and women from 35 churches and denominations. They blended their voices to make music that was pleasing to our Lord and also to those who were in the congregation.
As a surprise, Dr. Teresa Hairston (Chairwoman of Gospel Heritage) brought along a ‘free’ showing of the upcoming movie by Bishop TD Jakes, “Jumping the Broom” (see the trailer), for those persons who desired to get a first-hand look. The movie will be opening in a theater near you around Mother’s Day 2011.
