Ziegfeld New York, Premiere Red Tails

George Lucas has completed his task with bringing “Red Tails” on the big screen.  After boldly admitting no one wanted to touch the project because the cast consisted of “Black Actors” not including “Denzel Washington or Will Smith” the support was low. However, after studying Tyler Perry’s methods. Lucas realized, you can make an all African American film and reap a financial reward. George put up his own money to make the story of Tuskegee Airmen come alive. The film “Red Tails” will be in theaters January 20th 2012. The Boondocks” Aaron McGruder known for his controversial material is on board contributing as one of the screenplay writers of “Red Tails.”  Anthony Hemingway known for “Ali” and “Changing Lanes” on board as director.

The Ziegfeld’s red carpet stroll included; NeYo (Artist/Actor) a real gentleman, Method Man (Artist/Actor) very clean and dapper almost didn’t recognize him, Nate Parker (The Great Debaters), James Earl Jones (Claudine) I know but its my favorite film, Pras Michel (Fugees & Skid Row), Deborah Roberts (20/20), Al Roker (NBC),Tia Mowry (The Game), Giancarlo Esposito (Waiting To Exhale)), Andre Royo (The Wire), Debra Lee (BET), Stephen Baldwin (Usual Suspects),Terence Blanchard (Jazz Musician), Tristan Wilds (The Secret Life of Bees), Kimberly Locke (American Idol),Terrence Howard (Hustle & Flow), Cuba Gooding Jr. (Jerry Maguire) and not so friendly Spike Lee.

I believe this film is very accurate in telling the story of The Tuskegee Airmen. The story line was great. “Red Tails” should win an award for cinematography. Only time will tell for an Oscar buzz. As in all things when given a chance African Americans excel. The Tuskegee Airmen were superb pilots. “Red Tails” does an excellent job with bringing the action regarding the WWII event. Tuskegee Airmen become the first African-American fighter pilots in U.S. military history.  The story was worth telling and it definitely worth going to see. Urbanbuzzmag.com Buzzviewer Brian.
