Ms. Midi Da Mistress

Ms Midi has entered the arena of Females in Hip-hop. Let’s get know a little more about Ms. Midi (Da  Mistress) from the west side of Chicago.

UBM: When did you first develop the love for Hip-Hop music?

Ms Midi: I was always a music lover but I was around 12 when I discovered my love for hip-hop.

UBM: Which artists inspired you as you were growing up?

Ms. Midi: Artist like Tina Turner, Al Green, Marvin Gaye etc. etc. under the soul/dusties genre.  As far as hip hop, It was 2pac, Mc Lyte, Queen Latifah, etc etc. I know I left out many names, so just know it was people who made real music.

UBM: I understand that you have some big things happening right now in your career, would you mind sharing with our readers on what’s going on?

Ms. Midi: I just signed a 3 single deal with Beatsumthin/Bpe/Universal. I just finished up my first single titled Is It Good to U which is also a featured song on a movie soundtrack. I don’t think I can drop the name right now but definitely keep an eye out for that, along with some merchandise and exclusive footage.

UBM: How was your talent as a rapper discovered initially?

Ms. Midi: Taking long road trips! My brother and I use to rap over the dusties my aunt played when we were on our way out of town. The first rap I wrote was nastier than ever but yet I was still pure! The crazy thing about it is that my aunt found it and she ate me up but told me it was good at the same time lol!

UBM: I understand that you have been doing music for a while, about how long have you been grinding and what has kept you going and motivated?

Ms. Midi: I feel like I’ve been doing this forever but honestly I been going super hard the last 6 years because I feel that this is all I got. The motivation came from family, friends and fans.

UBM: What makes Rockford, Illinois the unique city that it is, from your perspective?

Ms. Midi: To be short and sweet, the people that’s in it.

UBM: Define the ‘Ms. Midi’ brand of Hip-Hop music.

Ms. Midi: It’s universal baby!!! I say that cause I can get off on any subject, will attack any track, and I’m appealing to the ears of all ages. I didn’t set a target market for myself because I want them all!

UBM: What projects are you currently working on that we can expect from you in the very near future?

Ms. Midi:
Well as I spoke about earlier I currently have a 3 single deal. I finished one thus far so be expecting that in the near future and the next two singles as soon as possible. I’m also wrapping up my second mixtape Its In Me Not On Me,  I’m working on some crazy features, exclusive videos and most importantly providing financial means for myself and my people! All the above u can definitely be expecting in the near future.

UBM: The best advice you’ve ever received from your parents while growing up.

Ms. Midi: To me it’s the typical parent advice. “If you work hard you can play harder.”  The best thing they could have told me.

UBM: What’s the best piece of advice you can give to a talented young lady who aspires to get into the music business and succeed as a rapper?

Ms. Midi: To put God first, have faith and believe in herself. It’s hard for women to make it in this business but I’m hoping to accomplish some things in my journey to make it easier.  It’s a shame a 1000 men can rep at once but they only allow a female or two in at a time and not long may I add. (Shaking My Head)

UBM: You a Chicago Bears fan?

Ms. Midi: All day everyday! On and off season! Ya dig!!!

UBM: Favorite athletes playing for the professional sports teams in Illinois.

Ms. Midi: Devin Hester, Brian Urlacher, Peppers, and Tillman. As far as basketball, the Chicago Bulls is my favorite team and Derrick Rose, Noah, Luol Deng, and Carlos Boozer.

UBM: What makes “Ms Midi” a ‘key player’ to be reckoned with?

Ms. Midi: Its in me, not on me baby! It’s me doing what I’m doing but even though I love my music, it’s way bigger than me. I have a master plan and a super team.

We know you can’t go wrong with a master plan and super team. We wish you all the best here at Urbanbuzzmag.com and thank you for being a real Key Player in the business.
