~R.G. Major~

Classically trained Deborah Lombardi speaks with the Urban Buzz Magazine about her love for music and new Cd coming soon.

UBM: Who is Deborah Lombardi?
DL: I’m a dynamic and unique singer-songwriter based out of Long Island, New York – often described as a Country Music version of Liz Phair or Throwing Muses. I play both guitar and piano and perform both solo acoustic or backed up by my band. My songs have been licensed to TV and film, I’ve won several runner up awards in songwriting contests, and I even have an endorsement deal with Knucklehead Strings. My CD On The Fringe is available on many online retailers like iTunes, Rhapsody and Napster, and I’m currently recording my 2nd CD, titled Sweet Revenge.

UBM: What best describes you as a person?
DL: Ambitious, determined and self-sufficient.

UBM: Define your brand of musicality.
DL: My songs have elements of Country, Americana, Blues, Folk-rock and Pop, threaded together with catchy melodies and thought-provoking lyrics.

UBM: A consumer of great music is always looking for something new, fresh & unique: The Next Big Thing. How would you promote yourself to that potential customer to convince him/her that you are The Next Big Thing in music?
DL: In a sea of over-produced, shallow pop stars, if you’re looking for something with more substance, look no further! But I’m also not one of those stereotypical singer-songwriters who are just plain boring, too mellow and too academic – my music is a lot of fun too! My stories draw in the listener with lyrics that can be funny, or shocking, or something everyone can relate to. I make sure my songs have a radio-friendly quality that is memorable, performed with a strong voice and strong musicianship.

UBM: What are your goals in the music industry, long-term?
DL: Get more sountrack placements (TV, films, etc.) as they can be a lucrative source of income, and of course, sell more CD’s and play to bigger and bigger audiences.

UBM: If you didn’t have music in your life, what career path would you have taken?
DL: Be a writer. I’ve always wanted to write books, and as a songwriter I’m a natural storyteller. I actually hope to write a book or two one day when time allows.

UBM: The best piece of advice your parents have given you.
DL: While my parents aren’t musicians themselves, they always instilled in me a strong work ethic, and that’s something that’s definitely needed if you want to survive in the music business.

UBM: The best advice you can give to a young lady who has great musical talent & wants to take it to the next level.
DL: Don’t rely on others to make it happen, you need to be able to do it yourself. Set goals, make a plan, be organized and don’t be afraid to go after what you want.

UBM: How can our readers learn more about you & your music, plus also keep in touch with you to network?
DL: I have a variety of websites where you can follow my musicĀ  http://www.deborahlombardi.com
