gloria gaynor

There are a handful of artists whose name you mention and the whole world will know whom you are talking about. Her voice is dynamic. Her signature is I Will Survive, an inspirational song that touched every weary soul in the world.

Gloria Gaynor has returned after 30 years with her album I Wish You Love. What has she been doing? Theater, television and concerts for her loyal fan base. I had the chance to speak with the icon, legend and real diva in the business about her return to the studio.

What was it like for you to reenter the business, with the competition of the new look of diva's today? It has always been my policy not to be concerned with other artists. Except with the kind of music that is being played on radio stations. You know if you come with something different to a radio station, they are not that likely to play it. I came to New York and listened to what they were playing on the radio. I put together the elements of my earlier years and pulled them together with good musicians, melodies and lyrics meaningful and strong. I worked with some producers who have been in the market. What is your hope for the future now that you have returned to the music market? I want the public to enjoy this album and them a multimedia concert tour with great musicians, dancers and lasers to make the concert a real experience. I want to do films. I wrote a script about my life and I'm looking forward to shopping it. You have been in the business for quite some time. How has the industry changed? A lot has changed because of the technology. But one of the great things I feel has really changed is the short change to the public. We don't have the spontaneous creativity that happened between live musicians and the artist. What is something good about it? The young people are getting the opportunity to express themselves. Some may be a little misguided I must admit. But it's not their fault they just don't have the type of guidance they need. I must admit, I was like Gloria Gaynor has a new album. Let me hear what type of music she's returning with. I thought you were going to just get stuck in the 70's but you didn't. The album is really good. I wanted to remain loyal to my disco fans while sharing my quiet side with songs like I Never Knew, I Wish You Love, and Let It Rain.
