For more than three decades, Kym Whitley has stood as one of comedy’s most versatile and beloved entertainers. Her first major break came in 1989, launching a career defined by sharp humor, heartfelt connection, and an unwavering commitment to community. Over the years, Whitley has earned a Daytime Emmy nomination, secured three NAACP Image Awards, and built a body of work that spans television, film, and digital media. Audiences know her from countless sitcom roles, standout film appearances, and her BET+ series I Love Us, which she co hosts with Kountry Wayne. She continues to expand her reach through her award winning podcast Two Funny Mamas, co hosted with Sherri Shepherd, where her signature wit and authenticity shine. Whitley recently reunited with longtime friend and fellow comedy veteran Buddy Lewis to revive Whacked Out Wednesdays, a monthly comedy showcase held every first Wednesday at the iconic HAHA Comedy Club in North Hollywood, at 4712 Lankershim Blvd, North Hollywood. Buddy Lewis is a comedy craftsman with 35 years of excellence as well. Lewis is a seasoned entertainer whose influence stretches across stand?up, television, and film. His career includes appearances on BET’s Comic View, HBO’s Def Comedy Jam, and classic sitcoms such as Martin. A two time NAACP Award winner, Lewis has collaborated with industry comedians including Kevin Hart, D.L. Hughley, and Jamie Foxx. His behind the scenes work is equally impressive serving as producer and writer for The Real Husbands of Hollywood and helped to create White Famous for Showtime. His comedic voice, both on stage and in the writers’ room, has shaped the landscape of modern comedy. And he gave Urban Buzz Magazine an exclusive on what he has coming up next during our interview.
It was the ‘Superbowl’ of Gospel Music the 2016 Stellar Awards, a celebration of the finest artists the Gospel music world has to offer. The 31st edition of this annual event was held at the Orleans Arena in the Las Vegas. For one day, February 20th, the so-called “Sin City,” became “Salvation City,” with more than 10-thousand people from across America on hand for what may have been the greatest praise and worship session on the planet!
