Prentiss “PL Sweets” Thompson is a quintessential businessman expanding his empire in entertainment. Prentiss “PL Sweets” Thompson born and raised in Harlem, NY, is a Dj, music producer, musician, engineer, writer, filmmaker, director and CEO.  He operates Godspeed Entertainment, Building 200 Films and Metro Podcast Studio with his team. He has worked with a host of well-known recording artists across various genres. Despite all his great accomplishments seeing his film I.C.U. on the big screen is a dream come true. Thompson is happy to announce his film directorial debut, I.C.U. The official screening will be held 12pm September 7th 2019 at CityPlex 12 Theater Screen 4, 360-394 Springfield Ave, Newark, NJ. I had the pleasure of speaking to PL Sweets about his music and film making career.

She is Oasas certified in Intimate Partner Violence and Domestic Violence. W.A.P.W is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization committed to advocating for all abused persons of Domestic Violence. W.A.P.W is a group of diverse women who are survivors of Domestic Violence. Now advocates who share their stories of coping skills and victories of overcoming their abuser(s). W.A.P.W free groups are held in a safe space environment of healing, trust and love.

RED STREET RECORDS ESTABLISHES GMA IMMERSE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

With a desire to edify, educate and inspire emerging Christian music creatives, Red Street Records has established a GMA IMMERSE scholarship program. This year, two recipients of the fund attended GMA IMMERSE thanks to Red Street Records’ CEO /Owner Jay DeMarcus and General Manager Don Koch.  The scholarships, selected by a group of industry executives and Red Street Records team members, were awarded to Abby Siler and Kendall Pond. Jackie Patillo, Executive Director of GMA (Gospel Music Association) said, We are so thankful for the generosity of Red Street Records. These scholarships allow students to attend the conference who otherwise would not be able to attend. It is a beautiful thing to see the heart of Jay, Don and their entire team – hearts that want to encourage and inspire the next generation. Recently, we found out Mikey Jay has been busy producing films. His most recent film project is titled Time Matters presented by Aigne Film Group.  There is no doubt there is room for great storytellers. Mike Jay is no stranger for telling stories. Grammy nominated Mike Jay is well verse in telling a good story musically and now he has transferred his talents to the big screen.  Time Matters, appears action pack with a good story line. The National Council For Adoption (NCFA) was proud to present the 2019 Warren and Mary Alice Babineaux Award to recording artist Jimmy Wayne in recognition of his continued commitment to creating positive change in the lives of children in foster care who need permanent families. Foster Care is very dear to me personally. I am very honored to share his great news. Congratulations from Urban Buzz Magazine. The Babineaux Award was presented following Jimmy’s 223rd Opry performance on May 3rd. This performance marks the continuation of a two-decade country career whose highlights include seven Top 40 hits, the Number One smash Do You Believe Me Now, with sold-out shows at venues like Madison Square Garden.

Wu-Tang Clan Mics and Men

Wu-Tang Clan four-part documentary, Mics and Men will air on May 10th at 9pm on Showtime television.  The legendary Staten Island Hip-Hop clan is celebrating its 25th anniversary of their debut album Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers).  I had the pleasure of sitting in on a discussion about their documentary Mics and Men directed by Sacha Jenkins. The evening filled with moments of remembrance of late beloved Ol Dirty, fond memories of their humble beginnings and some of their greatest achievements. In attendance was RZA, GZA, Inspectah Deck and Cappadonna.  My first time in marketing and promotions, was working with my friend Reg-Reg and guess who was one of our clients. Just a little Key Player trivia. Anyway it was fun to reconnect and see how far we all have come.
