JUNETEENTH IS COMING TO HARLEM
Mrs. Shéquanda (Shea) Long is known for her culmination of creative events. A graduate of the University at Buffalo, Shéquanda Long served as Event Coordinator to the Black Student Union (BSU), where she helped to service roughly 5000 student members of color. She was responsible for overseeing and tending to the logistical details of over a dozen annual events. Raised in Harlem, NY Shéquanda Long was born a leader and an innovator. Shea is known for her commitment to improve progress in low-income communities. She is the proud owner of Kidz Day Care, author of a children’s book Rain, Rain, Go Away! And the first to launch Juneteenth Freedom Fest NYC, (JFFNYC). Although, there is talk of fewer restrictions for events. Shea and her team have decided to have a week-long Juneteenth virtual festival online sponsored by Lunchtable June 13th to 18th and a block party on June 19th in Harlem, 12pm to 6pm,129th street between 7th and 8th avenue.
Shéquanda (Shea) Long embraced Juneteenth Freedom Fest NYC, (JFFNYC) to launch in Harlem to compliment its rich history. Shea and her team have curated many activities for all ages to enjoy. Juneteenth is a time for Black tastemakers and visionaries to come together and celebrate liberty for all. On June 19th 2021, the best of Black Excellence will gather for an inspirational and festive day. Tastemakers from all over will be there. JFFNY will honor Black Wall Street, by having tables just for black owned/operated businesses to offer products or services. Juneteenth is the commemoration of freedom, a celebration of Black culture, the Black experience and achievements. I had the honor of speaking with the visionary Shéquanda(Shea) Long about her journey to get approved to have Juneteenth in Harlem. I will say I am looking forward to celebrating with family, friends and community safely on June 19th. Welcome our KeyPlayer Shequanda (Shea) Long a.k.a Shea from around the way making strides to bring excellence back into our urban markets.
