Meet Shawn Cornelius

Shawn Cornelius is the CEO of Shawn Cornelius Entertainment.  He is a graduate of Shaw University where he earned his BA in theater. He became interested in stand-up comedy and has been performing across the U.S.  He quickly made a name for himself on the New York comedy circuit.  He has opened for Jamie Foxx, George Wallace and J Anthony Brown.  Shawn has appeared several times on BET ComicView and can be found performing on weekends at LOL Comedy Lounge in Midtown Manhattan NYC.  Shawn Cornelius is celebrating 30 years in comedy.  During his acting career, Shawn has appeared on Law & Order SVU and Criminal Intent.  Shawn Cornelius’ full length feature film Whatever It TakesThe Movie, When Blood Runs Cold, won Best Urban Underground Film at The People’s Film Festival.  Among other passions, Shawn is singer-songwriter, who plays an array of instruments.  Shawn Cornelius experienced an Ischemic Stroke in February of 2021.  He recently wrote a book, My Stroke Story, giving details of his recovery which is available on Amazon.

IMAGINARY ART TO LIFE

Daniel Dover is an artist extraordinaire. He has established a career built on ingenuity, versatility, and his relentless attitude to bringing vision to life.  With his wit and humor and imagination, he created his first animation show, Bernard & Ralph.  His gifts for art include painting, technical prowess for gaming, painting and street art. He has been compared to many famous street and visual artists, like Banksy, Ron English, Tristan Eaton, and Basquiat. Dover’s creative journey, launched in his hometown of Tel Aviv.  After traveling all around the world, he took a residence in New York City.  Daniel Dover masterfully transformed Tel-Aviv City Hall’s escalators into a warm welcome for visitors.  Something never done before by an artist. Dover has the ability to see something in his mind and make it beautiful.  I had a chance to speak with Daniel Dover about his passion for art.  There is nothing he cannot think of and make it come to life.  His true passion remains animation.  During the COVID lock down, he was able to finish up his first cartoon series, Bernard & Ralph. Gabriella Douglas is a Set Designer with many new credits under her belt. She is a highly sought after Set Designer from Canada to Hollywood.  Her talents have led her on a whirlwind journey of accolades and awards.  She is a true example that your gift will make room for you.  It did not come with ease but with her dedication and determination.  She proved that when you put in the work, doors will open.  Gabriella Douglas majored in Design.  She earned her Masters Degree in Architecture and her Bachelor of Architectural Studies.  Her first job right out of school was a feature film in Montreal called Chaos Walking (Lionsgate), based on the best-selling novel of the same name, directed by Doug Liman.  Since entering the film & television industry in 2017 as a Set Designer, Gabriella has had the privilege of working for FX, Disney, Lionsgate, Apple TV+, and others.

Melba Moore – Legend!

The One and Only Melba Moore!  Always a key-player, Urban Buzz Magazine is honored to acknowledge and give thanks for all the inspiration, all the opened doors, all the music; As well as highlight her widely acclaimed, brand new soul-savvy album – IMAGINE.  Born to the music-manor, Melba Moore’s career spiraled in paths often surprising (to her), but almost always successful. One may call it fate, flavor or favor; and maybe it’s all those things and more, but no doubt Melba would faithfully say – to God be the glory.  Daughter of saxophonist Teddy Hill whose own orchestra featured music-masters Dizzy Gillespie, Roy Eldridge, and Bill Coleman.  Hill was also widely known as the manager of Minton’s Playhouse in Harlem, back in its jazz heyday. Melba’s mother, Bonnie Davis was a prolific and very popular singer with her Don’t Stop Now reaching number one on Billboard’s R&B chart. She encouraged her daughter’s dreams, but also moved Melba to earn a B.A. in Music Education…just in case. Clement Moorman, pianist, music director and loving stepfather was instrumental in Melba’s early piano lessons, as well as her entre’ into showbiz as a session singer which eventually led from there to ..Hair! Purlie! Timbuktu! & beyond.

Redefining Jewish Cuisine

Chef Yonatan Chaitchik is disrupting the food industry with his New York Monday pop-up Jewish cuisine.  Born in Israel, Chef Yonatan Chaitchik honed his craft in some of the top restaurants in Tel Aviv, starting for Chef Eyal Shani.  Studying at The Culinary Institute of America, working with Chef James Kent and Restaurateur Jeff Katz.  Yonatan found his niche as a chef in New York.  Collaborating with other up and coming chefs, Yonatan has opened the door for Chef’s to create dishes from their heart.  He is adding an option to the American menu of burgers & fries, pizza, Mexican, Chinese and Italian menu.  Using fresh vegetables and ingredients to stimulate one’s palate.  Chef Yonatan’s staple meal for Mondays pop-up includes delicious veggies, fish and hummus.

Charles Clark is a respected minister of song from North Carolina. Spreading encouragement through songs like Champion, Forever Always and I Am combining scripture with song.  He is credited for reminding us of the goodness of the Lord. His new release You Are stays with Charles’ theme of putting God in His rightful place. He is a musical disciple.  His songs are guaranteed to usher you into the presence of God.  Charles Clark’s professional recording career began as a background vocalist for some of gospel’s greats.  He stepped out in 2013 to pursue his solo career and we are glad about it.  Each song exhorts the identity of Christ while ministering to the audience.  With a classic Kingdom sound of gospel, praise, and worship, Charles inevitably has an anointed sound that shifts the atmosphere, inspiring every listener to join in with a confident declaration that God is good.

BETH Always Sings

Straight out of Detroit, MI, Beth Griffith-Manley known as Beth is a solo artist,  singer, songwriter, producer, actress, author and CEO of Anise Records. She has an extremely unique voice that has been enchanting audiences worldwide. Her gorgeous tone, and ballads are only a few reasons why so many people adore her. Hands down, she is easily one of the best singers in the music industry.  Beth’s voice many consider to be one of the finest.  Here are the receipts; toured with Anita Baker (background singer), Kem, Babyface, Peabo Bryson, Najee, Yolanda Adams and (coached) by Kelly Clarkson and John Legend on the Voice.  This is still an introduction to her musicianship which is like no other  There’s a reason why Beth is a greatly respected vocalist.  She can sing and work ethic is top-notch.  Beth is equally gifted with other first name recording artists like Mariah, Beyonce and Whitney.  Beth has certainly earned her title to pick up a microphone.  If you’ve always dreamed of becoming a great singer.  Beth is an example of making that dream come true.  She reveals what it takes in our interview.  She holds the moniker Beth Always Sings @bethalwayssings

The Bomb

Robert Harper is a bassist, recording artist, composer and songwriter who has just released a new single titled “Tha Bomb” that is now available on all major digital outlets.  “Tha Bomb” was released just in time for the fourth of July celebration and the reopening of many cities from the shutdown of the COVID Pandemic.  Tha Bomb has a horn section that is serious and Robert shares his solid bass grooves & rap/vocals on this funky track.  Earlier this year of 2021 he released The Fonk Record which is a tribute to legendary pioneers of funk, with a song dedicated to the late Wayman Tisdale titled Mr. Tisdale, which is available as well.  Robert Harper began his interest in music at the tender age of thirteen.  Inspired by Bootsy Collins, Robert Harper has developed his own sound by using a variety of special effect pedals to create various tones which add to his bass groove.  You can view Robert Harper’s passion for funk music by subscribing to his YouTube Channel @robertharperbass  *The bass community is deep-rooted. JUNETEENTH IS COMING TO HARLEM

Mrs. Shéquanda (Shea) Long is known for her culmination of creative events. A graduate of the University at Buffalo, Shéquanda Long served as Event Coordinator to the Black Student Union (BSU), where she helped to service roughly 5000 student members of color. She was responsible for overseeing and tending to the logistical details of over a dozen annual events. Raised in Harlem, NY Shéquanda Long was born a leader and an innovator. Shea is known for her commitment to improve progress in low-income communities. She is the proud owner of Kidz Day Care, author of a children’s book Rain, Rain, Go Away!  And the first to launch Juneteenth Freedom Fest NYC, (JFFNYC). Although, there is talk of fewer restrictions for events. Shea and her team have decided to have a week-long Juneteenth virtual festival online sponsored by Lunchtable June 13th to 18th and a block party on June 19th in Harlem, 12pm to 6pm,129th street between 7th and 8th avenue.
